About Julie



Education and Experience

Julie Sharp is an individual, couple and family psychotherapist, and Registered Social Worker. Her formal education includes two Canadian degrees - a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Children and Family Therapy along with a Bachelor (Hons) degree in Social Work from Ryerson University.

She received her clinical training at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, where she worked in the outpatient unit providing clinical assessment and treatment to individuals with anxiety disorders. Her training also included valuable clinical supervision and training in evidence based therapies, proven effective in treating mental health conditions.

In addition, she has gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of life challenges and mental health concerns while a part of interdisciplinary teams and community settings throughout Durham Region and Toronto, including Canadian Mental Health Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Durham College’s Women’s Centre, and Ryerson University. She is currently an affiliate provider for Health Canada in their Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providing counselling services to Federal employees and their families.

Julie has lived in Ajax for 30 years and values family and giving back to her community. She has actively volunteered with the Distress Centre Durham and Durham Rape Crisis Centre since 2011 and is the owner and founder of a Private Practice in Individual, Couple and Family Counselling and Therapy. Julie is honored to work with clients who share their personal stories with her and finds it deeply rewarding to help them rediscover their strengths and find solutions that bring positive and lasting change as well as meaning to their lives.
